Fun Fact

Blennerhassett Island in the Ohio River just downstream of Parkersburg was home to Irish immigrant Harman Blennerhassett, who was tried for treason (alongside Aaron Burr) in 1807 for allegedly plotting to create an independent country in the Louisiana Territory. Common Questions

Moving in Parkersburg: FAQ.

Is Parkersburg really that affordable?

Yes — extremely. Median home prices run 60-70% below national averages; entry-level homes under $100K and family homes under $175K are common. Cost of living is similarly lower. The trade-off is a shrinking job market (chemical industry decline), limited cultural amenities, and concerns about environmental legacy from the chemical industry's heyday.
